Jolly Phonics: This week we worked on the letter sounds “sh, th/th, qu,ou, and oi” in our Jolly Phonics books.  Please review these sounds and songs with your child.

Literacy: The book Knuffle Bunny by Mo Willems was our focus this week. New vocabulary words the children learned included errand, laundromat, realized, and boneless.  Trixie was the main character in the story.  She went on an errand with her daddy to the laundromat and ended up leaving Knuffle Bunny in the washing machine.  Trixie wasn’t able to speak words yet, so her dad didn’t understand what she wanted.  Then, they got home and realized that Knuffle Bunny was missing.  They raced back and found her.  Trixie’s first words were Knuffle Bunny.

Science: This week we focused on weather in science.  We tried to answer questions like:
Have you ever watched a storm?
How can we get ready for a big storm?
How do you know what to wear for the weather?
What will the weather be like on your birthday?

Sharing topic: Please have the children bring in an item starts with the sh, th, or qu sound for sharing next week.  The children will need to be able to identify what sound starts the name of their item.
