Phonics: This week we worked on the
letter sounds “z, w, ng, v, and oo ” in
our Jolly Phonics books. Please review
these sounds and songs with your child.
Math: In math this week we focused on counting and
recognizing teen numbers. We used
shaving cream to practice writing numbers. It was messy, but a lot of fun!
Sharing:
We are working hard on identifying words that
rhyme. Please have your child bring in two items that rhyme for sharing next
week.
Literacy: We read the book Lilly’s
Purple Plastic Purse by Kevin Henkes. The children learned what
strategies good readers use when they read.
The five strategies focused on this week include visualizing, inferring,
making connections, sharing their opinion, and retelling the story. Lilly wanted to show everyone her purple
plastic purse, glasses and quarters. Mr.
Slinger made her wait, and she interrupted the class. So,
Mr. Slinger took her purse away and she drew a mean picture of him. Then , Lilly felt bad and apologized.
