Jolly Phonics:
This week we worked on the letter sounds “ ai, j, oa, ie, and ee/or ” in our
Jolly Phonics books. Please review these
sounds and songs with your child.
Literacy: We read the book Stand Tall Molly Lou Melon by
Patty Lovell. The children learned what
strategies good readers use when they read.
The five strategies focused on this week include visualizing, inferring,
making connections, sharing their opinion, and retelling the story.
Math: We
continued to explore numbers by counting, showing one to one correspondence, and
reading numbers 1- 10. Writing the numbers 1 to 10 independently was very
challenging for the students. Please
have the children continue to practice number formation at home.
A big THANK YOU to Gary
Sovereign, Tim Huhe, Reicks View Farms, and all the other people that organized and provided the amazing tour at the Fair
Grounds. The children were so excited to see a cow being milked and to touch a
piglet. Those piglets sure have a loud squeal!
