Jolly Phonics This week we worked on the letter sounds “g, o, u, l,
, and f ” in our Jolly Phonics books.
Please review these sounds and songs with your child.
Handwriting: We worked on writing the lower case letters a, d, o, and
g.
Science: The kindergarten students will be starting a new
science unit next week. It is entitled Helping
Students Protect the Environment and Live Well.
Throughout this unit the students will be learning that everything
comes from the earth. They will learn
about natural resources and the products that are made from those
resources. The students will also learn
about repurposing items. Our classes will be creating a “Dump Library” to be
maintained in our classrooms. If you
have any old books you would be able to donate to our classroom, we would
appreciate them.
Math: Math skills we worked on this week included sorting,
counting and recognizing numbers 1 to 10, and comparing body heights to objects
in the classroom.
Writing: We
read a story about a child named Titch. The children learned how to discuss the
book with a partner and generate writing topics. They then wrote about things they liked to do
with their own families.
Grandparents’ Day: The kindergarten students loved inviting their grandparents
to enjoy a fruit smoothie with them at school. The students were so proud to
show off their schoolwork to their grandparents.
Date to Remember:
