Literacy: The
book Tacky the Penguin by Helen Lester was the focus this week. The children loved reading various stories
about the odd, but loveable penguin. They also enjoyed using QR Codes to learn
about real penguins.
Writing: This week the
students explored how professional
authors and illustrators tell more about a story. The book Cookie’s Week by Cindy Ward
and Tomie dePaola was used to promote how to add more to a story.
Science: We have been learning about germs this week. The children are now expert germ fighters!
Jolly
Phonics: Please continue to review Tricky
Words at home. The children are very competitive when it comes to reading the
Tricky Words. Thank you for working with your child on word lists and the books
that are sent home in the Jolly Phonics Envelopes.
