21 –Literacy: Outdoor Explorers
Unit theme “What can I learn when I explore the outdoors?” This week we continued to focused on the question,
“What can I observe as the seasons change?”
Writing: This week the
students learned about the importance of choosing a topic to write about. When
writing the actual story, it is important to think about telling more,
continuing to add more words to the story. The students also shared something
they liked about their story.
Handwriting: We worked on writing the upper case letters A, B, and D.
Math: This week the students worked really hard on writing
the numbers 1 to 20 in order. Please
have your child continue to work on number writing at home.
Science: Our focus this week was on learning about germs and
how they can make us sick. We learned
what happens when we sneeze and don’t cover our mouth. Lotion and glitter were used to demonstrate
how germs are passed from person to person easily. We are practicing good hand washing habits at
school.
Jolly
Phonics: Please continue to review letter
sounds at home. Thank you for working with your child on word lists that are
sent home in the Jolly Phonics Envelopes.
