Lead 21 –Literacy: Let’s Celebrate
Unit theme “What are living things?”
This week we focused on the question, “What plants and animals are
around us?”
Math: Marshmallow and Toothpick Shapes The children had a blast creating and building
3-dimensional shapes using marshmallows and toothpicks. Number
Stories The children created their own number stories, draw pictures to
illustrate their stories, and wrote the corresponding number sentences go along
with their story.
Science: We have been learning about Spring Weather. Yes,
learning about Spring Weather has also included the word “snow” this year. The main focus has been on rain, wind, and
sun. The children have learned the song
“Rain” and enjoy singing it as they work on their science projects in class.
Special
Activity: On Thursday, April 2nd we will be coloring
Easter Eggs. Please send two or three
hard-boiled or blown eggs for your child to color. Please
talk to your child about not eating the eggs, since they are traveling to and
from school and being handled by others.
We will also discuss this at school.
It works very well to transport the eggs in an egg carton. Just cut the
egg carton in half and tape it closed.
The children are very excited about this activity.
Writing: The children are exploring words through poetry. Stories from Read-Aloud Rhymes For The
Very Young by Jack Prelutsky were
read and discussed. They enjoyed
visualizing and acting out the poems.
