Happy New Year!

21 –Literacy: Outdoor Explorers
Unit theme “What can I learn when I explore the outdoors?” This week we focused on the question, “What weather
can I observe each day?”
Writing: We read the
story titled Feelings by Susan Canizares. We then composed a class story
about feelings and drew pictures to illustrate it.
Please
have the children practice writing sentences that go along with their pictures
they create at home. Remind them to use
their Jolly Phonics sound sheet when sounding out words. We have been working on starting a sentence
with a capital letter, leaving two finger spaces between words, and using
punctuation to stop a sentence.
Math: This week the children had fun in math. They worked with pattern-block templates to create
various creatures. The children also
used calculators to practice reading and entering numbers.
Handwriting: We worked on writing the upper case letters C, O, Q, G, and
S.
Science: We read many books about snow this week. They
completed snow related activities. The snow projects are displayed in the hall.
